The Federal Government has announced that the final batch of 315 Nigerians evacuated from South Africa will arrive in the country on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, as part of its ongoing evacuation programme.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through its spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, the evacuation flight will be operated by Air Peace, departing South Africa at 1:30 a.m. and arriving at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, at approximately 6:30 a.m.
The evacuation exercise follows recent xenophobic attacks and security concerns affecting Nigerians living in parts of South Africa.
The Federal Government had earlier conducted four evacuation flights, bringing home hundreds of Nigerians who voluntarily indicated their willingness to return. The most recent flight evacuated 40 returnees.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed the government’s commitment to safeguarding the welfare of Nigerians abroad and expressed appreciation to all stakeholders who contributed to the successful evacuation exercise.
