Sixty-eight Nigerians have been awarded prestigious Chevening and Commonwealth scholarships to pursue master’s and PhD programmes at universities across the United Kingdom in 2026.
The beneficiaries, comprising 12 Chevening scholars and 56 Commonwealth scholars, were honoured at pre-departure ceremonies held in Abuja and Lagos.
Chargé d’Affaires of the British High Commission in Abuja, Vicky Seymour, congratulated the scholars and urged them to use their experiences and knowledge gained in the UK to contribute to Nigeria’s development upon their return.
The scholars expressed gratitude for the opportunity, with beneficiaries highlighting their commitment to promoting good governance, human rights, inclusive development and a more inclusive society.
The Chevening and Commonwealth scholarship programmes recognise individuals with strong academic ability, leadership potential and a commitment to contributing to the development of their home countries.
