The Federal Government has fulfilled its pledge of housing units and land allocations to members of the Super Eagles following their runner-up finish at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Côte d’Ivoire.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed the development, stating that the players have now received certificates of ownership for the plots of land and housing units promised by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to the federation, the documents were officially presented to the players on Monday at the team’s camp in Fez, Morocco.
Nigeria finished second at the continental tournament, which was staged in 2024, after a 2–1 defeat to host nation Côte d’Ivoire in the final.
Following the team’s return from the competition, President Tinubu hosted the players at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where he conferred the national honour of Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) on each squad member. At the event, the President also announced the allocation of a plot of land in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and a housing flat to every player in recognition of their performance at the tournament.
The fulfillment of the pledge underscores the government’s commitment to rewarding excellence in sports and supporting athletes who represent Nigeria on the international stage.
