Abuja — The FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has issued a stern warning to striking staff of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) to return to work immediately or face legal and disciplinary action. This follows a ruling by the National Industrial Court, which ordered an end to the ongoing strike that has disrupted public services across Abuja.
Wike emphasized that essential government operations have been severely affected and urged workers to comply with the court’s injunction. The minister also accused some politicians of attempting to hijack the industrial action for political purposes.
Despite the court order, striking workers under the Joint Union Action Committee (JUAC) and backed by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) have indicated they may continue the strike, demanding the fulfillment of outstanding entitlements and promotion arrears. The government insists that noncompliance with the court ruling will attract strict legal consequences.
