Three Injured as Building Collapses in Lagos

Three adult males were injured when a one-storey building under construction collapsed on Sunday afternoon at 96 Ishaga Road, directly opposite the Idi Araba Central Mosque in the Mushin area of Lagos State.

According to a statement from the Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, emergency services received a distress call around 3:30 p.m. The injured were promptly rescued and given on-site medical attention before being transported to a hospital by the Lagos State Ambulance Service.

Agencies involved in the response included the Isolo Fire Station, LASEMA, the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps, the Lagos State Ambulance Service, and the Nigeria Police. Search and rescue operations are still ongoing, and the cause of the collapse remains under investigation.

This incident comes less than a month after a separate building collapse on Oremeta Street in the Ojodu-Berger area, which claimed one life and injured several others. That building was also under construction and housed a local restaurant. Witnesses said it collapsed shortly after staff had arrived for the day.

Authorities continue to emphasize the need for adherence to building regulations to prevent further tragedies.
