FG to Set Up Industrial Hubs in 4 States to Boost Manufacturing Sector

The Federal Government is set to establish industrial hubs in Lagos, Ogun, Kano, and Abia as part of efforts to boost industrialisation and accelerate economic transformation across Nigeria.

Minister of State for Industry, Senator John Enoh, announced this at the 16th National Council on Industry, Trade, and Investment held in Lagos. The event, themed “Accelerating Diversification by Leveraging Industry, Trade and Investment for Shared Prosperity”, focused on aligning public and private sector efforts for sustainable development.

Enoh revealed that the initiative is part of the Industrial Revolution Work Group (IRWG), launched in February 2025, which aims to rejuvenate Nigeria’s industrial landscape through collaboration, data-driven policymaking, and consistent reform implementation.

He stated that the hubs would help address key barriers to industrial growth such as energy deficits, infrastructure gaps, and regulatory bottlenecks, in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“Nigeria is entering an era of full-scale industrialisation where every policy and investment must drive a competitive, inclusive, and innovation-led economy,” Enoh said.

He urged all stakeholders—federal and state governments, the private sector, and development partners—to actively support the IRWG initiative by unlocking MSME financing, reviving dormant industrial zones, and building employment-generating clusters nationwide.

According to him, the planned industrial hubs are strategically designed to leverage regional advantages, stimulate job creation, and foster long-term economic growth.
