The Nigeria Police Force has disclosed that 151 senior officers are undergoing disciplinary proceedings over allegations of professional misconduct and infractions.
The hearings, convened by the Force Disciplinary Committee, commenced on Monday, July 14, and will continue until Friday, July 25, 2025, at the IGP Smart Conference Hall, Force Headquarters in Abuja.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the move underscores the institution’s commitment to internal accountability and the reinforcement of professional standards.
He explained that the officers—ranging from the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police and above—were drawn from various commands nationwide and are undergoing a rigorous and transparent review in line with established disciplinary procedures.
Describing the Committee’s function, Adejobi noted it serves as a vital internal mechanism for investigating and ruling on breaches of professional and ethical conduct. The outcomes of the proceedings will be forwarded to the Police Service Commission for final decisions on sanctions or exoneration.
Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun reaffirmed the Force’s dedication to institutional integrity, stating that no form of misconduct will be tolerated, regardless of rank. He emphasised the police’s resolve to foster professionalism, uphold the rule of law, and maintain public trust through a discipline-driven framework.
