Flood Relief: 458 Mokwa Households Compensated with Cash, Food — LG

Mokwa Local Government has confirmed that 458 households affected by the May 2025 flood disaster have received compensation in cash and food supplies.

Alhaji Dauda Liman, Secretary of Mokwa LGA and the Relief Distribution Committee, revealed that each affected household received ₦1 million and raw food items donated by the federal and state governments, alongside contributions from private donors.

He said about 20–25% of survivors, mostly those who relocated, are yet to be compensated but assured they will receive their share.

Breakdown:

  • 424 homeowners and shop owners received ₦500,000 each.
  • Relatives of 138 deceased victims were given ₦1 million each.

He also noted that the ₦2 billion pledged by the Federal Government through VP Kashim Shettima has not yet been received, but they remain hopeful.

Over 260 people were reported dead, and thousands displaced during the disaster.
