NAFDAC raids hawkers, seizes fake Drugs worth over N110m

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has carried out coordinated enforcement raids across Lagos, Kaduna, Abuja, and Asaba, targeting hawkers and peddlers of fake and unregistered drugs.

In a statement released Tuesday, NAFDAC said the operations were part of its ongoing crackdown on illegal pharmaceutical sales. Over N110 million worth of expired, fake, and unapproved drugs were confiscated, including sex-enhancement pills, tramadol, morphine, oxytocins, antibiotics, and painkillers.

More than 15 suspects were arrested and are currently being interrogated. Director-General Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye warned that distribution of drugs in unauthorized places is illegal and punishable, and vowed that NAFDAC would continue the nationwide clampdown until offenders are prosecuted.

She advised Nigerians to avoid buying drugs from hawkers and unlicensed vendors, stressing NAFDAC’s commitment to public safety.
