Renowned Italian fashion designer and billionaire entrepreneur Giorgio Armani has passed away at the age of 91.
A symbol of Italian elegance and refinement, Armani redefined both men’s and women’s tailoring for the modern era, becoming a global icon of timeless style.
What began as a fashion label evolved into a vast empire under his leadership—spanning beauty, fragrance, music, sports, and luxury hospitality—generating over £2 billion annually.
Fashion designer Donatella Versace paid tribute on Instagram, sharing a photo of Armani with the caption: “The world lost a giant today. He made history and will be remembered forever.”

Armani was last seen publicly in January 2025, at his final runway show, alongside Latvian model Agnes Zogla.
In a statement posted on the brand’s official Instagram account, Armani was described as having worked tirelessly until his final days, fully committed to his company, creative collections, and numerous forward-looking projects.
“He remained indefatigable to the end,” the statement read, noting his “unrelenting curiosity and deep attentiveness to the present and to people.”
Widely regarded as a trailblazer, Armani played a key role in shaping the modern red carpet aesthetic. He was also a vocal advocate for health in the fashion industry, becoming the first major designer to ban underweight models from his shows following the 2006 death of model Ana Carolina Reston due to anorexia nervosa.
His legacy continues to influence generations of designers and creatives around the world.
