The Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, has called for a two-week fasting and prayer across Edo State from September 15 to 28, 2025.
In a statement by the Obamedo of Benin, Efosa Igbinomwanhia, the monarch urged all sons and daughters of the Benin Kingdom, including non-indigenes residing in Edo, to seek divine intervention for peace, protection, and bountiful harvests.
The fasting aligns with traditional practices ahead of the annual new yam season, to ward off evil, sudden death, and promote unity and stability in homes, the state, and Nigeria at large.
