Israel’s Defence Minister has issued a stark warning to Hamas: surrender or face total annihilation, as tensions continue to escalate in the Gaza conflict.
The warning came shortly after former US President Donald Trump called on Hamas to accept a deal to release hostages held in Gaza.
Meanwhile, violence flared in East Jerusalem, where gunmen opened fire at a bus stop, killing five people, according to Israeli emergency services — one of the deadliest attacks since the war began in October 2023.
In Gaza, Israeli airstrikes reportedly killed 10 people overnight in Gaza City, with at least 48 others killed across the region on Sunday. Civil defence authorities say the humanitarian situation is worsening.
In response to Trump’s statement, Hamas said it was open to immediate talks, raising cautious hopes for renewed negotiations amid the ongoing conflict.
