Siasia: Lookman and Arokodare Are Crucial to Nigeria’s World Cup Ambitions

Former Super Eagles coach Samson Siasia has identified Ademola Lookman and Tolu Arokodare as key figures capable of influencing Nigeria’s World Cup fate as they prepare for a crucial qualifier against South Africa today in Bloemfontein.

Siasia urged current head coach Eric Chelle to capitalise on Lookman’s set-piece expertise and Arokodare’s physical presence in attack to secure a vital victory over Bafana Bafana.

Following a narrow 1-0 win over Rwanda in Uyo—secured by Arokodare’s late strike off the bench—Nigeria remains within touching distance of the group leaders.

A victory today would cut the deficit to just three points, keeping the Super Eagles firmly in contention for a place at the World Cup.

Nigeria’s Super Eagles are gearing up for a pivotal 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana in Bloemfontein.

The clash is considered a must-win for Nigeria as they aim to remain within striking distance of the top position in their qualifying group.
