A pilot has died following the crash of a light aircraft during agricultural spraying operations in South Australia, according to a statement from SA Police.
The incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. local time on Monday in farmland near the small town of Yeelanna, approximately 275 kilometers west of Adelaide.
The 36-year-old pilot, who was the sole occupant of the aircraft, was pronounced dead at the scene.
SA Police said major crash investigators were dispatched on Monday evening to determine the cause of the accident.
The statement also noted that the Australian Transport Safety Bureau will conduct its own investigation into the incident.
According to a statement from the ATSB, the Air Tractor agricultural aircraft crashed into the ground while conducting crop-spraying operations.
The bureau added that investigators with expertise in aircraft operations would be deployed to the scene to collect evidence and inspect the wreckage.
