Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has appointed Benibo Anabraba as the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG), replacing Dr. Tammy Danagogo.
The change is reportedly part of the new peace deal that ended the prolonged political crisis in the state.
Anabraba, a former minority leader in the State Assembly and one-time commissioner under Fubara, was sworn in on Monday at the Government House in Port Harcourt.
“This is not about displaying power but answering a call to duty,” Fubara said during the inauguration, urging Anabraba to serve with honour, integrity, and dedication.
He noted the significance of the SSG role and charged Anabraba to prioritize the interests of Rivers State, especially as the administration seeks to rebuild trust and unity.
“It’s a rare opportunity. You must discharge your duties responsibly so you can leave office with honour,” the Governor added.
Danagogo, who served as SSG under former Governor Nyesom Wike and retained the role under Fubara, exits amid political realignments following months of tension in the state.
