2026 WCQ: We’ll be focused and purposeful against Benin – Chelle

Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, has vowed that his team will stay focused and purposeful in their bid to secure victory against the Benin Republic in Tuesday’s crucial 2026 World Cup qualifier.

Speaking at a pre-match press conference in Uyo on Monday, Chelle emphasized the importance of the game, stating:

“We have to win. We want to go to the World Cup. I’m focused, the boys are ready, and we know what’s at stake.”

Group C remains tight with Benin on 17 points, South Africa on 15, and Nigeria trailing with 14 points.

Team captain, William Troost-Ekong, added that the players are motivated to make history:

“We’re playing to make a name. It may not be 100% in our hands, but we’ll give everything to win.”

Meanwhile, Benin coach Gernot Rohr expressed confidence that his side will maintain their lead and secure World Cup qualification, noting that his players are in high spirits and ready for the clash.
