The Nasarawa State Transitional Leadership Team (TLT) of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has suspended its state chairman, Godwin Alaku Williams, over allegations of anti-party conduct.
The party’s State Publicity Secretary, Idris Ojoko, said the decision followed a petition accusing Alaku of actions considered harmful to the party’s unity and growth. The allegations reportedly include his failure to recognise the party’s national leadership, refusal to integrate coalition members, and alleged reports against party leaders to security agencies.
According to Ojoko, Alaku has been placed on a 14-day suspension pending the outcome of an investigation by a disciplinary committee. Barrister Paul Magaji Ajeh has been appointed as acting state chairman, while Umar Babayaro will serve as acting secretary. The disciplinary committee is chaired by Barrister Hassan Yakubu.
Responding to the development, Alaku dismissed the suspension as invalid, questioning the legitimacy of those who initiated the action. He insisted they are not recognized members of the party and accused the group of attempting to destabilise the ADC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Alaku maintained that he remains the duly elected state chairman of the party until the expiration of his tenure later this year.
