Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has ordered the immediate suspension of all activities of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in motor parks across the state as part of efforts to restore order and maintain public peace.
The directive was issued on Thursday following a meeting of the Osun State Security Council and announced in a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi.
According to the statement, the governor instructed the Police and other security agencies to prevent anyone from operating in the state’s motor parks under the banner of the NURTW, stressing that the move is aimed at ending the collection of levies and restoring sanity to transport parks.
Governor Adeleke also directed security agencies to arrest and prosecute anyone who violates the order or parades as an official or executive of the union.
He clarified that while motor parks would remain open for transport activities, no individual or group would be permitted to operate in the name of the NURTW until further notice.
