Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has condemned the reported arrest of the state Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sunday Bisi, and called for his immediate release.
In a statement issued on Saturday by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke said Bisi was arrested at his residence in Ilesa shortly after casting his vote in the ongoing Osun governorship election.
The governor said the PDP chairman was reportedly taken to an undisclosed location, with no reason given for the arrest.
Adeleke described the development as an attempt to intimidate his supporters and alleged that the arrest was part of a broader plan to restrict the monitoring of election results during the collation process.
He also accused the APC of working with compromised security personnel to interfere with the outcome of the election—an allegation that has not been independently established.
The governor urged security authorities to immediately release Bisi and other persons he described as political prisoners, stressing that elections should reflect the free choice of voters without intimidation or force.
