Agboyi-Ketu LCDA Kicks Off 6th Assembly Legislative Week to Strengthen Grassroots Governance

LAGOS, NIGERIA — The Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has officially commenced the 6th Assembly Legislative Week, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening grassroots governance through effective legislative collaboration.

The three-day event, scheduled to run from July 7 to July 9, 2026, began at the Council Secretariat with a symposium themed “Strengthening Grassroots Governance Through Legislative Partnership.”

The opening ceremony attracted key government officials and stakeholders, including the Deputy Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Mojisola Meranda, who attended in support of efforts to enhance legislative effectiveness at the local government level.

As part of the programme, the council will hold a Public Hearing on Bye-Law Amendments, providing residents and stakeholders with an opportunity to contribute to the review of existing local laws and promote greater community participation in governance. The Legislative Week will conclude with a special commemorative dinner.

Addressing participants at the opening ceremony, the Executive Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, Hon. Adetola Abubakar, commended members of the legislative arm for their unwavering support and collaboration. He attributed many of his administration’s achievements to the strong partnership between the executive and the legislature, emphasizing that their synergy has been instrumental in delivering impactful governance and development initiatives across the council area.

The Legislative Week underscores the council’s commitment to promoting transparency, accountability, and inclusive governance through constructive engagement between elected representatives and the communities they serve.
