Agege, Ajeromi-Ifelodun Pilgrims Return to Lagos After Successful 2026 Hajj

Pilgrims from Agege and Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Areas have returned safely to Lagos following the completion of the 2026 Hajj exercise in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Their arrival was met with celebration and emotional receptions at the local council levels, as families and officials gathered to welcome the returning worshippers.

✈️ First batch arrives in Lagos

The pilgrims were part of the first batch of 344 Lagos State contingents who completed the pilgrimage.

They arrived aboard Flynas flight XY9492 from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, landing at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja at about 7:37 p.m. Nigerian time.

🕋 Officials express gratitude

Chairman of the Lagos State Dawah and Enlightenment Committee, Prof. Kabir Paramore, who led officials accompanying the first flight, expressed gratitude for the safe return of all pilgrims.

He described the Hajj experience as spiritually fulfilling and prayed for the safe arrival of other batches still expected back in Nigeria.

🏥 Strong medical support during Hajj

Medical Team Lead, Dr. Mazeedat Erinosho, reported that the health condition of pilgrims remained stable throughout the exercise.

She noted that:

Pre-Hajj screenings were conducted for about 1,600 intending pilgrims
Tests included blood pressure, blood sugar, TB, HIV, Hepatitis B, and pregnancy screening
Ongoing health monitoring was provided during the pilgrimage
Emergency care and hospital referrals were handled in coordination with Saudi health authorities

According to her, the medical team also ensured continuous care during stays in Makkah, Madinah, and Mina, contributing to the overall success of the exercise.

🛬 Ongoing return schedule

The Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board confirmed that airlifting will continue with additional flights expected in the coming days until the final batch returns.

Officials say the remaining pilgrims are expected back in Nigeria by Saturday.
