Agege Local Government, in collaboration with the Lagos State Primary Health Care Board and Lagos State Health District 1, has officially flagged off the 2026 Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health (MNCAH) Week as part of efforts to improve maternal and child health outcomes.
The week-long intervention will provide residents across the council area with free comprehensive healthcare servicesat all Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and designated community outreach posts.
The host Chairman, Abdul-Ganiyu Vinod Obasa, and the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Health District 1, Dr. Sola Pitan, highlighted the importance of accessible primary healthcare in protecting vulnerable groups, especially pregnant women, newborns, and young children.
The initiative will offer a range of essential health services, including:
- Family planning services for men and women
- Antenatal and postnatal care services
- Child deworming and growth monitoring
- Malnutrition screening
- Vitamin A supplementation
The organisers encouraged residents to take advantage of the free healthcare services available throughout the MNCAH Week to promote healthier families and communities.
