The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Osun State chapter, has suspended the activities of all transport unions operating in motor parks across the state and directed security agencies to immediately take over the facilities to maintain law and order.
The decision, announced on Monday, is aimed at preventing a breakdown of peace, protecting lives and property, and ensuring the smooth operation of public transport amid ongoing concerns over activities within the state’s motor parks.
According to ALGON, the suspension is temporary and will remain in effect until further notice. During this period, security personnel have been mandated to oversee operations at the affected motor parks to forestall any form of unrest or disruption.
The association called on residents, transport operators, and commuters to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies, assuring them that the measure is in the interest of public safety and orderly transportation.
ALGON also noted that consultations with relevant stakeholders would continue to determine a lasting framework for the management of motor park operations across the state.
The move comes as authorities intensify efforts to preserve peace, strengthen security, and ensure uninterrupted transport services throughout Osun State.
