Alimosho General Hospital has celebrated and recognised its donors, philanthropists, organisations and strategic partners for their contributions to patient care, hospital development and improved healthcare delivery.
The recognition was part of the hospital’s 2026 Donors Appreciation Day, organised to acknowledge individuals and organisations whose generosity and commitment to humanity have made a positive impact on patients and the wider community. Speaking at the event, the Medical Director/Chief Executive Officer of the hospital, Dr. Akinyele Akinlade, expressed appreciation to the donors and partners for their invaluable support over the years.
Dr. Akinlade noted that every contribution, regardless of its size, had played a significant role in improving patient care and advancing the development of the hospital. He stressed that many successful treatments and enhanced patient experiences were made possible through the support of individuals, organisations and philanthropic groups. He added that the growing demands on the healthcare system made stronger collaboration between government, healthcare institutions, individuals and other stakeholders essential.
In her welcome address, the Chairman of the Committee of Friends of Alimosho General Hospital, Dr. Rukayat Ajibola-Bakare, described the event as an opportunity to appreciate those who have continued to invest in humanity through their generosity. She acknowledged the contributions of non-governmental organisations, philanthropists, corporate bodies and community partners, while also commending hospital staff for ensuring that donated resources translate into meaningful care and improved patient experiences.
The Chairman of the Day and Commissioner II, Lagos State Health Service Commission, Dr. Laja Odunuga, commended the hospital for initiating the programme, describing it as an innovative approach to strengthening stakeholder relationships and encouraging greater commitment to healthcare development. He emphasised that building a healthier society requires collective responsibility and sustained collaboration among government, healthcare institutions, philanthropists, organisations and the wider community.
Also speaking, the Area Commander, Lagos State Police Command Area ‘M’ Idimu, ACP Tokunbo Abaniwonda, described the initiative as laudable, noting that recognising donors would encourage existing supporters to do more and inspire others to embrace the culture of giving and community service.
The appreciation day featured the recognition of individuals, organisations and groups whose contributions have supported the hospital through assistance to vulnerable patients, provision of medical equipment and improvement of the hospital environment.
The event also reaffirmed Alimosho General Hospital’s commitment to building stronger and sustainable partnerships, with the hospital pledging to ensure that the goodwill and generosity of its supporters continue to translate into improved healthcare services, better patient experiences and enhanced health outcomes for residents of Alimosho and beyond.
