Amuwo-Odofin Local Government has intensified efforts to promote a cleaner and healthier environment by mobilising residents for its monthly environmental sanitation exercise.
The exercise commenced at the Council Secretariat, with council officials, environmental health officers, community leaders and residents participating in the community-wide clean-up campaign.
Speaking during the exercise, the Executive Chairman, Prince Lanre Sanusi, reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to environmental hygiene, stressing that regular sanitation remains essential to preventing disease outbreaks, improving public health and creating a safe, healthy and livable environment for all residents.
As part of the exercise, participants carried out the desilting of drainage channels, evacuation of refuse, sweeping of major roads and inspection of public spaces to ensure compliance with environmental sanitation standards.
The council urged residents to complement government efforts by embracing proper waste disposal practices, maintaining clean surroundings and actively participating in future sanitation exercises to sustain a cleaner, safer and more environmentally friendly Amuwo-Odofin.
