The All Progressives Congress (APC) says it is on track to meet the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) deadline for the submission of its presidential and National Assembly candidates for the 2027 general elections.
A senior member of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), who spoke anonymously, disclosed that the process of uploading candidates’ details to the INEC portal is at an advanced stage, with the particulars of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his running mate expected to be submitted before the middle of the week.
According to the party official, the APC remains confident of meeting the July 11 deadline set by the electoral commission.
“We are progressing smoothly with the uploading of the details of our National Assembly candidates. We hope that on or before next Wednesday, we shall upload the details of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his running mate. We are completely sure of meeting the July 11 deadline,” the source said.
Checks at the APC’s Information and Communications Technology (ICT) department at the party’s national secretariat, Muhammadu Buhari House in Abuja, indicated that the technical team has continued to interface with the INEC portal without any disruption.
Sources within the department revealed that the details of several principal officers of the 10th National Assembly and other serving lawmakers have already been uploaded.
The party has also reportedly submitted the details of four serving governors seeking elective positions. They include Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State, Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, and Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State.
The ongoing submissions follow a review of the APC’s primary elections. The party recently forwarded a revised list of candidates to INEC after the National Working Committee removed six senatorial candidates and 19 House of Representatives candidates who had initially emerged from the party’s May primaries.
The APC says it is finalising the process to ensure all eligible candidates are successfully uploaded ahead of the electoral commission’s deadline.
