The All Progressives Congress (APC) has scheduled its presidential primary election for May 15 and 16, 2026, as part of preparations for the 2027 general elections, while also fixing the cost of nomination and expression of interest forms at ₦100 million.
According to the party’s timetable released via its official communication channels and signed by National Organising Secretary Sulaiman Argungu, the sale of forms will run from April 25 to May 2, with submission closing on May 4. Screening of aspirants is slated for May 6 to 8, followed by publication of results on May 11 and appeal processes between May 12 and 13.
The APC further announced that presidential aspirants will pay ₦30 million for expression of interest and ₦70 million for nomination forms, while governorship aspirants will pay ₦50 million. Female aspirants, youths, and persons with disabilities will receive a 50 per cent discount on nomination fees.
Subsequent primaries for other elective positions include the House of Representatives on May 18, the Senate on May 20, State Houses of Assembly on May 21, and governorship primaries on May 23.
The party stated that the timetable aligns with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Electoral Act 2026, and guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), reaffirming its commitment to credible and transparent internal elections.
As of now, no aspirant has officially declared interest in the APC presidential race, although political endorsements for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term continue to emerge within party ranks.
