The Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC) has declared the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) winner of Monday’s local government election in the state.
The Chairperson of the commission, Hajiya Jummai Abubakar, declared the results on Monday, announcing that APM candidates won all 20 chairmanship seats and 319 of the 323 councillorship positions contested.
According to Abubakar, the remaining four councillorship seats were won by the Social Democratic Party (SDP), National Rescue Movement (NRM), Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) and Young Progressive Party (YPP).
She said the SDP won Dandango Ward in Bauchi LGA, while the NRM secured Darazo South Ward in Darazo LGA.
The ZLP won Wandi Ward in Dass LGA, while the YPP secured Zirami Ward in Giade LGA.
Abubakar said the results were declared after the conclusion of voting, counting and collation, adding that the winners satisfied the requirements of the law and secured the highest valid votes.
Some opposition parties, including the African Democratic Congress (ADC), African Action Congress (AAC), Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), boycotted the election, alleging that the exercise contravened the 2026 Bauchi State Electoral Act.
