The Nigerian Army has boosted its manpower capacity with the passing out of over 3,000 newly trained recruits at the Depot Nigerian Army, Amasiri-Edda, Ebonyi State.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, charged the new soldiers to uphold discipline, loyalty and professionalism as they commence active military service.
The Army said the graduation represents a significant step in ongoing efforts to strengthen national defence and respond to Nigeria’s evolving security challenges.
According to the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Col. Appolonia Anele, the ceremony follows similar recruit training programmes conducted at the Depot Nigerian Army in Zaria and the newly established training depot in Osogbo, Osun State, reflecting the expansion of the Army’s force generation capacity.
Shaibu urged the recruits to remain committed to their duties, stressing the importance of constitutional loyalty, vigilance and responsible conduct in the discharge of their responsibilities.
He said the country’s investment in their training must be justified through courage, professionalism and dedication to service.
The Army chief described the Amasiri-Edda Depot as a strategic addition to Nigeria’s military training infrastructure, noting that it would support the development of competent and combat-ready personnel for ongoing operations.
Meanwhile, Ebonyi State Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru commended the establishment of the depot, describing it as a valuable national asset that has contributed to improved security, economic activity and opportunities for communities in the state.
The governor also pledged continued collaboration with the military and other security agencies to promote peace, stability and development.
