Arsenal began their Premier League title defence in impressive fashion, cruising to a 3-0 victory over newly promoted Coventry City at the Emirates Stadium.
Kai Havertz opened the scoring in the 15th minute before Bukayo Saka doubled Arsenal’s advantage eight minutes later. Captain Martin Ødegaard added a third shortly after the restart to complete a dominant display.
The victory gives Mikel Arteta’s side an early statement of intent as they seek to retain the Premier League title for the first time since Arsenal last achieved back-to-back championships in the 1930s.
New signing Christos Tzolis also impressed on his league debut, while Arsenal maintained control throughout the match and limited Coventry to few clear opportunities.
