The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK) branch, has declared a total and indefinite strike over the non-implementation of the 2025 Federal Government-ASUU agreement and other unresolved issues affecting academic staff.
The decision was reached during a branch congress held on Sunday, with the industrial action taking effect immediately. The branch chairperson, Dr. Zubairu Abdulmumin Loko, said the union had exhausted available avenues for dialogue with the relevant authorities without achieving satisfactory results.
Loko explained that the branch secured approval from ASUU’s National Executive Council before commencing the strike, stressing that the decision followed repeated efforts to resolve the disputes through negotiation. He urged the Federal Government, Nasarawa State Government, the university’s Governing Council and management to urgently address the outstanding issues.
The union said it remained open to genuine dialogue and would suspend the strike once there was clear commitment and concrete action towards implementing the agreements and resolving the local concerns.
ASUU NSUK apologised for the inconvenience the strike may cause students, parents and other stakeholders, but maintained that restoring industrial harmony depends on the urgent resolution of the issues that triggered the action.
