The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has issued a 14-day ultimatum to 20 universities to address outstanding issues or risk industrial action, raising concerns over a possible disruption to academic activities.
The decision was reached at ASUU’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held recently at the University of Abuja.
According to resolutions signed by ASUU President, Christopher Piwuna, the union expressed concern over what it described as the inconsistent implementation of the 2025 Federal Government-ASUU agreement and the failure of the government to release the required subvention.
ASUU also blamed the visitors of some state-owned universities for failing to implement the agreement.
The NEC consequently authorised affected branches to commence procedures for industrial action after issuing the mandatory 14-day ultimatum.
