The Lagos State Audit Service Commission (ASC) has underscored the critical role of effective data utilisation in driving informed decision-making, enhancing institutional performance and strengthening accountability across the Lagos State Public Service.
The Commission reiterated this commitment during its Quarterly Strategy Workshop, themed “Data Relevance, Data Distribution and Data-Driven Analytics in the Workplace,” held on Thursday, 16 July 2026, at The Colossus Hotel, Ikeja.
Representing the Head of Service, the Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office, Mrs. Sunkanmi Oyegbola, declared the workshop open and described data as a strategic asset for modern governance. She urged Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to leverage accurate and reliable data, digital tools and innovation to improve policy formulation, operational efficiency and service delivery. She also stressed the importance of maintaining data integrity and investing in continuous capacity building.
In his goodwill message, the Permanent Secretary, Civil Service Commission, Mr. Wasiu Agbabiaka, encouraged public servants to cultivate a data-driven culture by embracing technology and evidence-based insights to strengthen planning, performance management and overall institutional effectiveness.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Audit Service Commission, Mrs. Oluwakemi Amudat Garbadeen-Adedeji, said the workshop was designed to enhance officers’ capacity in the effective management and utilisation of data to promote transparency, accountability and excellence in human resource management within the State Audit ecosystem. She urged participants to apply the knowledge gained to improve efficiency, performance monitoring and service delivery.
The workshop featured technical presentations and interactive sessions on data relevance, distribution, analytics and dashboarding, providing participants with practical tools and strategies to address workplace challenges and improve institutional effectiveness across the public service.
