The Lagos State Council for Arts and Culture (LSCAC) has concluded the 2026 Children’s Summer Cultural Fiesta with a colourful Grand Finale, aimed at promoting cultural awareness, creativity and artistic talents among children.
The week-long programme, held from August 13 to 20, 2026, at the LSCAC Theatre Hall, was themed “Our Culture, Our Identity.” It featured practical training in arts and crafts, textiles, Yoruba language, dance, music, drama and storytelling.
Speaking on behalf of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Bopo Oyekan-Ismaila, the Director/CEO of LSCAC, Mr. Idowu Johnson, said the programme was designed to help children connect with their cultural heritage while developing their confidence and creative abilities.
Johnson stressed that culture goes beyond clothing, music and festivals, noting that language, values, traditions and creativity are also essential to identity.
He reaffirmed the Lagos State Government’s commitment to initiatives that nurture young talents and create opportunities within the cultural and creative industries.
The Grand Finale featured drama, dance and other cultural performances by the children, while outstanding participants received awards for their achievements.
Parents and guardians commended the initiative and called for its continuation and expansion to benefit more children.
The Fiesta ended on a high note, with participants gaining new skills and a deeper appreciation of their cultural heritage.s State Council for Arts and Culture reaffirmed its commitment to promoting cultural education and creativity among young people, with the goal of raising a generation capable of preserving, promoting and transforming the rich cultural heritage of Lagos State.
