Bruce Willis’ family has made a deeply personal decision that could help advance scientific understanding of frontotemporal dementia (FTD), the condition he has been living with.
Following his death, the actor’s family plans to donate his brain to medical research to help scientists better understand FTD, a progressive neurological condition for which there is currently no cure.
His wife, Emma Heming Willis, revealed the decision in her book, with the support of Willis’ former wife, Demi Moore, and his daughters.
Researchers may be able to study donated brain tissue for abnormal proteins and other cellular changes associated with FTD, potentially providing valuable insights into how the disease develops and progresses.
The family has also established a fund to support FTD research and provide assistance to caregivers.
Through these efforts, the family hopes to turn their difficult experience into an opportunity to advance research and help others affected by the disease.
