LAGOS, NIGERIA — The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has expanded its operational footprint in Nigeria’s commercial capital with the commissioning of a new service office located at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos.
The new facility, unveiled on Monday by the Registrar-General and Chief Executive Officer of the CAC, Hussaini Ishaq Magaji (SAN), is part of an ongoing strategy to decentralize corporate services and enhance support for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
Expanding Access for Small Businesses
The establishment of the TBS service office aims to bring business registration and statutory compliance services directly to entrepreneurs, streamlining operations for local business owners and reducing the bureaucratic delays traditionally associated with corporate filings.
According to a statement released on the commission’s official X (formerly Twitter) platform, the strategic placement of the office aligns directly with ongoing reforms under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to drive economic inclusion and accelerate the formalization of small enterprises across the country.
Key Services Offered
The newly commissioned office is fully operational and equipped to handle standard corporate transactions on-site, including:
- Business Name and Company Registration: Accelerating the onboarding of new enterprises into the formal sector.
- Filing of Annual Returns: Ensuring registered entities maintain active compliance status.
- Regulatory Guidance: Providing direct access to CAC staff for compliance inquiries and transactional assistance.
“The TBS office is fully equipped to provide seamless business registration, annual returns filing, and other compliance services, enabling SMEs to transact directly with the Commission in a faster, more convenient, and efficient manner,” the CAC stated in its official release.
Driving Ease of Doing Business
The expansion comes as the CAC continues to roll out digital initiatives and administrative reforms intended to simplify the business lifecycle in Nigeria. By improving access to registration facilities and modernizing service delivery, the Commission seeks to lower the barrier to entry for informal traders, enabling them to access institutional credit, government incentives, and broader market opportunities.
With Lagos serving as the financial engine of the nation, the addition of the TBS office is expected to significantly ease transaction volumes at existing service points and further improve Nigeria’s overall ease-of-doing-business framework.
