The family of late Hollywood actor Chadwick Boseman has initiated legal proceedings against his widow, Taylor Simone Ledward, over the administration of his multimillion-dollar estate.
Boseman’s brothers, Derrick and Kevin Boseman, filed a petition in a Los Angeles court seeking the removal of Ledward as administrator of the late actor’s estate. They allege that she has failed to properly distribute estate assets and has not been transparent in managing the family’s financial interests.
According to court filings, Boseman, who died in 2020 at the age of 43 after a private battle with colon cancer, left behind an estate valued at approximately $3.8 million but did not leave a will.
A court had previously ruled that 50 percent of the estate should go to Ledward, while Boseman’s parents, Leroy and Carolyn Boseman, were each entitled to 25 percent.
The petition, filed on behalf of the actor’s parents, claims the estate has yet to be fully distributed and accuses Ledward of maintaining unilateral control over Boseman’s assets. It also alleges a lack of transparency regarding the management of a company established to oversee the late actor’s image, likeness and intellectual property rights.
The Boseman family argues that the prolonged administration of the estate has caused financial hardship and emotional distress for the actor’s elderly parents, while delaying closure following his death.
In a statement released through U.S. media, the brothers said they remain committed to preserving Chadwick Boseman’s legacy with “dignity, integrity and respect,” while calling for greater transparency and accountability in the administration of the estate.
Ledward, an R&B singer professionally known as Sahn, married Boseman just six days before his death in August 2020. She has not publicly commented on the latest court filing.
