Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court, Abuja, has restrained the Kabiru Turaki-led National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from accessing the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
The judge also directed security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and DSS, to protect the Abdulrahman-led PDP faction, ensuring their access to the secretariat.
Justice Abdulmalik declared the Turaki-led national convention of Nov 15-16, 2025, in Ibadan, along with the election of officials, null and void, noting it violated Section 287(3) of the 1999 Constitution and the PDP constitution. She described the expulsion of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and his allies as “an affront to the order of the court” and a violation of the rule of law.
“All proceedings, resolutions, and decisions taken at the said convention, including suspensions and expulsions, are unconstitutional, unlawful, null, and void,” the court ruled.
The suit was filed by the Abdulrahman-led PDP faction, including National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu, seeking to restrain Turaki’s group from accessing Wadata Plaza and stop INEC from recognising any other address as PDP headquarters.
Justice Abdulmalik dismissed Turaki’s request for her recusal, and rejected claims that the court lacked jurisdiction, affirming the Wike-backed leadership’s right to continue using the party secretariat and properties.
The ruling reinforces earlier decisions by Justices James Omotosho and Peter Lifu barring the Turaki-led leadership from holding a national convention.
