A Federal High Court in Maitama, Abuja, has ordered the forfeiture of additional properties linked to former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, following his conviction for corruption and money laundering.
Justice James Omotosho ordered the permanent forfeiture of one property and the interim forfeiture of four others after holding that they were allegedly acquired with proceeds of unlawful activities.
The property permanently forfeited to the Federal Government is Walijam Apartments, located at No. 43, Plot 435, Lobito Crescent, Wuse 2, Abuja.
The court also placed four other properties under interim forfeiture. They include Bloom Luxury Suites Nigeria Limited in Kaduna State, as well as three properties located in Wuse 2, Abuja: a mansion at No. 11 Misratah Street, another at No. 13 Misratah Street, and A.U.A Plaza on Plot 734, Kade Street.
Justice Omotosho directed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to publish the interim forfeiture order in a national newspaper within seven days to allow any interested parties to show cause why the properties should not be permanently forfeited to the Federal Government.
The EFCC had prosecuted Mamman on an amended 12-count charge bordering on corruption and money laundering involving ₦33.8 billion.
The court had earlier convicted the former minister on all counts on May 7, 2026, and sentenced him to 75 years imprisonment on May 13, 2026. He was also ordered to refund ₦22 billion traced to proceeds of unlawful activities.
According to the EFCC, several assets believed to have been acquired through illicit funds were recovered during the course of investigation and trial.
The latest ruling adds to ongoing asset recovery efforts in the case, reinforcing the court’s position on proceeds of corruption.
