The National Industrial Court in Abuja has issued an interim injunction stopping the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) from proceeding with its planned strike scheduled for Monday, January 12, 2026.
In a ruling delivered on Friday by Justice E. D. Subilim, the court restrained all members and agents of NARD from calling, organising, directing, or participating in any form of industrial action. The order covers strikes, work stoppages, go-slows, picketing, and any other protest or disruption, including preparatory steps toward such actions.
The judge ordered that the injunction will remain in effect pending the hearing and determination of the substantive motion, which has been fixed for January 21, 2026.
The suit was filed by the Attorney General of the Federation and the Federal Government of Nigeria against NARD, its President, Mohammed Suleiman, and Dr. Shuaibu Ibrahim.
NARD had earlier announced plans to embark on a nationwide strike beginning Monday, January 12, 2026, prompting the government to seek judicial intervention.
