The Federal High Court in Gombe has reserved judgment in a suit challenging the emergence of former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for the 2027 Gombe State governorship election.
Justice Amina-Aliyu Muhammad reserved judgment after counsel to the parties adopted their final written addresses in the pre-election matter filed by PDP governorship aspirant, Aliyu Garry.
Counsel to the plaintiff urged the court to grant all the reliefs sought, arguing that Pantami’s emergence did not comply with the law and the PDP’s guidelines.
However, Pantami’s counsel asked the court to dismiss the suit, insisting that the nomination process was conducted in accordance with the law and the party’s procedures.
Justice Muhammad commended the legal teams for their professionalism before announcing that a date for the delivery of judgment would be communicated to all parties.
The suit is one of two separate legal challenges against Pantami’s emergence. Another PDP aspirant, Khamisu Mailantarki, is also seeking to nullify the party’s May 26, 2026 governorship primary and compel the PDP to conduct a fresh primary election.
