Shortly after King Haakon took his oath before the Norwegian Parliament, his daughter, Crown Princess Ingrid Alexandra, signed a written declaration at the Royal Palace, formally enabling her to serve as regent whenever her father is abroad or unable to carry out his duties due to illness.
The historic moment makes Ingrid Alexandra the first Crown Princess of Norway to sign the oath, marking a significant milestone in the country’s royal history.
Unlike her father and grandfather, Ingrid Alexandra had already reached the age of majority when she became heir to the throne, placing her in a different position as she assumes greater constitutional responsibilities.
Her signing of the declaration represents an important step in her journey towards the Norwegian throne and highlights the responsibilities that come with her role as heir apparent.
The occasion was particularly poignant as she continues to mourn the loss of her beloved grandfather. Despite the circumstances, the Crown Princess carried out the historic duty with notable grace and composure, marking a memorable chapter in her life and in Norway’s royal history.
