The Delta State Government has approved the reconstruction of the Otu-Jeremi/Udu Road at a cost of ₦22.69 billion as part of efforts to enhance road infrastructure and stimulate economic growth across the state.
The approval was granted during the 14th meeting of the Delta State Tenders Board for 2026, held on Tuesday at the Conference Hall of the Office of the Deputy Governor, Government House, Asaba.
The project covers the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the Otu-Jeremi/Udu Road, extending from the Warri–Port Harcourt Expressway at ECN Junction to the DSC Expressway at Udu Road Junction, with an additional spur leading to Otor-Udu.
The road corridor cuts across Ughelli South and Udu Local Government Areas and will be executed by the state Ministry of Works (Highways and Urban Roads).
Speaking after the meeting, the Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads), Izeze Reuben, said the approval reflects the state government’s commitment to delivering quality infrastructure and improving transportation networks across Delta.
He explained that the project would enhance connectivity between communities, ease the movement of people and goods, and support commercial activities within the affected areas.
According to the commissioner, the reconstruction aligns with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda, which prioritises sustainable infrastructure development and improved living conditions for residents.
Reuben expressed confidence that the completed road would reduce travel time, improve transportation efficiency and contribute significantly to the socio-economic development of communities along the route.
