The Department of State Services (DSS) has re-arraigned five convicted members of the terrorist group Ansaru before the Federal High Court in Abuja over their alleged involvement in the killing of two teachers during the 2026 attack on schools in Oyo State.
The defendants were brought before Justice Salim Ibrahim on fresh terrorism-related charges, despite having recently received life imprisonment sentences in separate cases.
Among those re-arraigned are Mahmud Muhammad, also known as Abu Bara’a or Abbas Mukhtar, whom the DSS identified as the leader of Ansaru, and Abubakar Abbas, also known as Isah Adam or Mahmud al-Nigeri, who is alleged to be the group’s deputy leader.
The other defendants are Abdulrazak Umar, Yunusa Musa, and Shamsu Adamu Sani.
The fresh charges are linked to the alleged killing of two teachers during the 2026 attacks on schools in Oyo State, as authorities continue efforts to prosecute those accused of terrorism-related offences.
