D’Tigers assistant captain Michael Eric will host the Top 50 Elite Basketball Camp in Lagos on July 24, providing young basketball talents with an opportunity to develop their skills, receive mentorship, and gain international exposure.
Organised through the Erico Sports Legacy Foundation, established in honour of his late father and former Super Eagles goalkeeper Joe Erico, the annual camp is aimed at empowering boys and girls aged 14–18 with basketball training, life skills, and educational guidance.
The one-day programme will bring together 50 outstanding players and their coaches from across Nigeria for intensive drills, mentorship sessions, and talent identification. Organisers will also provide over 200 pairs of basketball shoes, jerseys, and other sporting gear, while exceptional participants could earn sponsorship opportunities or trials with clubs in Europe.
Since its inception, the foundation has trained more than 1,000 young athletes, with several securing scholarships abroad. Eric reaffirmed that education remains a key pillar of the initiative, describing basketball as a tool for creating lifelong opportunities both on and off the court.
