Nigeria’s D’Tigress have been eliminated from the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup after France defeated South Korea 95-69 in their Group B encounter. The result ended Nigeria’s hopes of advancing to the knockout stage.
France secured their second consecutive victory in the group, while Nigeria had already suffered defeats to South Korea and Hungary. The outcome of the France-South Korea game therefore left D’Tigress unable to finish above the teams ahead of them in the group standings.
Nigeria’s elimination was confirmed despite still having their final Group B fixture against France to play. The head-to-head rule means the African champions cannot advance even if they finish level on points with a rival team.
D’Tigress will now face France in their final group match, with the team seeking to end their World Cup campaign on a positive note after an early exit from the competition.
