The National Sports Commission has confirmed the payment of the naira equivalent of $100,000 to each D’Tigress player and $50,000 to each team official following the team’s historic fifth consecutive FIBA Women’s Afrobasket title and seventh overall championship.
The payments were made on September 9, 2026, with all players and officials confirming receipt of the funds.
The commission said the payment completes all components of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reward package for the team.
The players and officials had earlier received title documents for three-bedroom flats in Abuja, as well as the national honour of Officer of the Order of Niger, OON, during a presentation in February 2026.
The latest reward recognises D’Tigress’ outstanding achievement and continued dominance in African women’s basketball.
