Nigeria’s D’Tigress will face China in their final warm-up game on Wednesday as they continue preparations for the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup.
The reigning African champions have suffered two narrow defeats to the hosts, losing 70-67 in the opening game before falling 69-65 in the second encounter. Guard Ezinne Kalu, who scored 13 points in the latest defeat, believes the final game offers Nigeria an opportunity to correct their mistakes.
Kalu said the team is determined to make the most of the final test, stressing that beating the same opponent three times in a row would be difficult. D’Tigress led 54-46 heading into the final quarter of the second game before China staged a late comeback.
Following the China series, Nigeria will continue their preparations in Spain, where they are scheduled to face Spain and Belgium before concluding their final tune-up games against Mali and Puerto Rico.
The seven-time African champions will head to Berlin, Germany, for the World Cup scheduled for September 4–13, where they will face Korea Republic, Hungary and France in Group B.
