Education District VI has inducted 80 newly employed teachers as part of efforts to strengthen the state’s education system and promote professional excellence.
Speaking at the induction ceremony, the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary of Education District VI, Mrs. Mojisola Christiana Yusuff, urged the new teachers to approach their responsibilities with dedication, discipline and integrity.
Yusuff stressed the importance of respecting students, preparing lesson notes ahead of classes and maintaining high standards of professional conduct. She also urged the teachers to familiarise themselves with the Child Protection and Safeguarding Act and engage parents respectfully.
The Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary further advised the new educators to live within their means to avoid financial embarrassment and maintain a lifestyle consistent with the responsibilities of public service.
She issued a stern warning against what she described as the “3 Is” undermining the education system — illegal admissions, illegal collection of money and illicit affairs within the school environment.
Yusuff also advised teachers who intend to leave the service to follow the appropriate resignation procedures rather than absconding from their duties.
Other directors at the ceremony encouraged the inductees to familiarise themselves with the Public Service Rules and uphold the principles of accountability, discipline and professionalism.
The ceremony ended with congratulatory messages to the newly inducted teachers as they begin their careers in the teaching profession and take on the responsibility of shaping the future through education.
