The Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, and Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, have identified quality education, active citizenship, and community collaboration with security agencies as critical tools for tackling banditry, terrorism, and other security challenges confronting Nigeria.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Kaduna Christian Academy, a faith-based school donated to the Christian community by friends of the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Oluwatosin Ajayi, the Defence Minister described education as a powerful non-kinetic strategy for promoting peace and national security.
According to Musa, lasting security goes beyond military operations and intelligence gathering, stressing that education helps combat ignorance, hopelessness, and extremist ideologies while empowering young people to contribute positively to society.
Governor Uba Sani, represented by the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, James Kanyip, reaffirmed Kaduna State’s commitment to expanding access to quality education, describing the new academy as a symbol of hope, opportunity, and transformation.
Religious leaders at the event also commended the initiative, noting that education remains a vital instrument for addressing insecurity, poverty, and social challenges while promoting interfaith harmony and peaceful coexistence.
